Well, my son did the flea market yesterday and even with 100+ temperatures, he made over $200 for his college fund. So a lot of the vintage stuff I gave him sold quickly and some antique stuff. Nothing too remarkable but it’s gone and he got a little money. So I’m very pleased. By 12 most vendors were packing up because most people don’t come out in the heat of the day. But he got rid of the 2 mission style chairs and a bookcase. So I’m thrilled.
If you’re looking for a summer dinner, pizza on the gas grill is amazing and easy. You do need to heat the gas grill up to the highest it’ll go @ 800 or whatever it says and then be sure to spray the grill with Pam or I use Costco’s Canola spray. Then when you’ve heated up the grill for say, 20 minutes you can do the pizza. You must have a pizza peel and be sure to use semolina flour under the pizza dough. Just a sprinkling. then roll out or stretch the dough till it’s about 12 ” in diameter. I’ve used homemade dough and Trader Joes and both work fine. Then here’s the trick, use just a few tablespoons of sauce, some mozzarella, then a few toppings but very sparse. I use buffalo mozzarella along with the regular shredded but not a lot. Then i may add a sprinkling of red onion, black olives and if I have any pepperoni or salami and top with a few shreds of fresh basil.
Cheese and pepperoni pizza with basil.
Then you must shake the pizza peel to be sure the pizza is moving and then slide onto the hot grill. Close the grill top. Don’t move it for about 5 minutes till the crust starts to cook and gets a nice char. Then rotate once 1/2 way and close the top again. Check in another 5 minutes. It cooks very fast and is superior to anything you could buy out. Try it out and it saves the kitchen from getting too hot.
We went to the farmers market yesterday and bought some nice veggies, broccoli, etc. Then I bought a 3 pack of organic strawberries to make a jam. I came home unloaded stuff and started the jam. I ended up with 5 pints from the 3 pack. Very tasty. I may go get more next week as berries must be at there peak.
Today was a gym day and I did the bathroom zone for tomorrow. Quick wipes of shelves, wash window and mirrors and reorganizing the small dresser we use for combs, brushes etc.
I wash sheets on Sunday and towels so I’m off to finish that.
Dinner is a huge chopped salad with stuff we got at the farmers market yesterday and I put a turkey breast in the crockpot. I use the kosher turkey breast from Trader Joes. Quite good. I’m going to use some Tofurky turkey slices for the veg with gravy.
Still really hot here 101 today. 😦
I went to the Farmers market and got 2 kinds of lettuce, lemons, organic strawberries, radishes, and leeks. $20. Kinda pricey but I wanted nice fresh lettuce. Oh and some watercress which I’ll add to the salads. I’m putting my produce in the linen bags I made recently and still want to make a few more.
Since I bought my new Brother sewing machine which is a basic model but has what I need, I made 2 linen bags, 4 linen napkins, and a linen chef’s apron. i love working with linen it’s a great fabric. I used up the 2 yards I ordered so I’m about to order and 4 yards. Some will be for new curtains in the tent trailer and then ?? It’s been fun. I use to sew a lot back in the’old hippie’days. Yes, some of our clothes. I wouldn’t do that now since I have a minimalist wardrobe but things like bags, napkins, curtains etc are fun and quick.
After the farmers market, I went to the all Friends of Library meeting as we were discussing strategies for approaching the board of supervisors. There is the possibility of 2 more libraries closing including Applegate( the one I worked at). So, it’ll be interesting to see where it all goes. If there is such a budget shortfall, it’s not a good thing for our small libraries that serve small populated areas.
My son and B went on down to San Francisco to the orientation at SFSU. I think it’s a good fit for my son and he will be going in as a senior. He will need student loans as we don’t have the resources to help him except for incidentals.
Tonight I’m not sure what’s on the menu. I’m feeling kinda blah so my it’ll be YOYO.
Tomorrow we’re going to haul the oak table to the corner and put for free on it as the people never got back to me which really irritated me but oh well, I want it gone. If it’s not gone by 6 pm we’ll go back and haul it back up and drop off at Salvation army.
It’s supposed to be sunny tomorrow so that will be a nice change again from all the rain.
Since I’m not going to the library, i decided I go to the farmers market and get our weekly veggies. Ok, plus an almond croissant, choc.croissant, a loaf of a dark bread….. ok, al little more than what was on my list. But yummy.
Now I have some flylady chores to do, and then read.
I’m going to grill a pizza. I did it last year so ill need to YouTube it again as i don’t quite remember how.
I have decided to write on last email to library director clarifying the 2 things she emailed me about. I wasn’t going to but I think I need to say these 2 things. I had my daughter check my grammar(which is usually not the greatest).
So, I’ll email that off this weekend.
Well, I’m off today ,the library is closed for presidents day, so we’re going to go do some fun chores.
First, farmers market to get some lettuce broccoli, and whatever else looks good. Then I need to stop at staples and check out the day planner I’m interested in getting. I want something that zips, but not too expensive. Then over to Home Depot to get some bags of soil so we can plant peas, chard and maybe some spinach. I’m hoping to do this in a bed that’s by the side of the front lawn.
We want to plant the whole front yard, but I’m not sure if that’ll happen. Water, money etc.
then we think we’ll get lunch at a place I bought a groupon with. But since I just ate breakfast, I may not be quite ready for lunch so soon. We shall see. Usually I’m terrible about stuff like that, say I’ll do it and then I poop out and don’t. So…..
Its cloudy here and not a sunny happy day. But no rain till tonight.
