It’s been a good week overall. I’m happy with the reorganizing and decluttering I did.
- Ate our meals at home and shopped at Grocery Outlet for things to get us through till I shop Costco next week.
- I’m trying to do only 2 very small loads of laundry a day,( white and dark). Although that may not seem frugal, it’s frugal with my time as I keep up on it and it’s not huge loads.
- Read 4 books this week free from Netgalley. They’re e- books but fun. Most were cookbooks but one was a self-help called 30 days to Joy ( or something like that). What I liked about it was her take on just do what brings you joy. I thought that was very simple and yet we need to read or hear that.
- We want to update our kitchen someday( when we have money) Ha….. Ha… but in the meanwhile, I decided to paint the cabinets again so at least they look better. So, instead of groaning we can’t afford to remodel, I bought a high gloss white paint and voila! It’ll do for now.
- All the bills are in for the month and budget done. Unfortunately, we will have a very expensive auto repair on my son’s Subaru. He needed the head gaskets done to the tune of $2500. Plus an accelerator problem. We offered to put it on our CC so he at least has a car. The other option was to sell it as is but then he wouldn’t have a car. So it’s cheaper to fix a car than buy a new used car. So, that won’t be frugal to charge it but it will be cheaper in the long run as hisSubaru will run for a good long while.
Tomorrow we’re going to Home Depot to get the boards for the last garden bed. I budgeted a small amount for this since it’s now or not plant. In the long run, it’ll be frugal when we have lettuce, etc.
Tonight is Friday night Pizza!
First, my daughter’s Honda just got towed to the dealer. She is suppose to work today so not good. And it’s snowing up there, so my car wont really cut it. I guess when I go pick her up I’ll see what she wants to do.
Sescond, made my pizza dough for tonight.
Third, I was going to Kon mari 2 bins I have that hold vintage table cloths and stuff. i’ve been thru these before but maybe with new ‘eyes’ I’ll see something to donate.
Fourth….. uhh, let’s see, the budget is a bust till payday, so that’s something.
Fifth, my gym workouts ate going well. I do feel stronger. this is week 5 so I’ll probably add some additional repetions to what I’m doing. Plus increase my cardio ( treadmill, recumbent bike) to 20 minutes. I’ve been doing 15.
We love using our new Lodge dutch oven. Every thing we’ve made has been great. Well, the cornbread was a little dry but that’s because we should have taken it out sooner as th oven is very hot for a long while.
Last night we did stuffed peppers with brown rice, mushrooms, onions, grated carrots and cheese and a tomato sauce( from the garden). It was great.
Yummy Stuffed peppers
Then we had the pizza camping…
Then here’s a couple of pictures of how I make the tomato sauce. Very easy and I freeze the bags flat.
So then I add some salt red pepper flakes, basil and cook for 2-4 hours till nice and thick!!!
Good news. All my labs have come back in the normal range. No abnormal protein on the SPEP test. Hurray… kappa light chains at 10.9 Lambda at 9.3 ratio at 1.17
So kappa went up slightly, lambda went down slightly and the ratio went up slightly. All still within normal parameters. So next month will be interesting, as it will be 2 months off Velcade. I’m thrilled to have good results and feel very fortunate. I’ll take whatever I can. Sometime this fall I’ll need Zometa but not right now.
Other good news, the Questran has really been a miracle worker. No GI issues at all. Normal everything plus there’s no urgent , better get to the restroom. Honestly, I’m not sure why I waited so long to try this. Since we’re in Tahoe this week and the bathrooms are a walk away, I’m feeling confident I’ll be okay. So happy with this development.
The other good news is our credit for completing 6 years of the HAMP program has been credited to our account. So we maybe going ahead with the Harp program refi but I haven’t heard back from anyone yet. with the interest rate due to go up again( as per the Hamp program) in October, we need this to go thru so our payments can be lower.
I emailed both loan officers and do hope to hear something about it today.
Dinner : I think I’m ordering a pizza . It’s still going to be 103 today so too hot to use the oven. Last night my daughter made a nice tomato ,fresh mozzarella salad with grilled salmon. Quite yummy. Plus I didn’t have to cook.
On another note, I went to the Koffee klatch yesterday. Nice to see everyone. But the library news is 6 hours taken from the Applegate branch. Wow, I certainly wouldn’t have a job anymore. I’m guessing only the manager will be doing those 4 hour shifts. It’s really only a matter time before they close Applegate. Actually, I was pretty shocked since with the other 2 branches closing I thought Applegate would get more hours. Plus the hours are only going to keep circulation down since it’ll be 10-2. No after school, no working people. That will, of course, eventually support that circulation is so low, we need to close this branch. It’s a shame really to see this happen but it doesn’t surprise me with the current administration. Oh well, I have backed away and feel good about supporting Nevada County libraries. I love libraries and am always grateful for their existence.
Since I’m not going to the library, i decided I go to the farmers market and get our weekly veggies. Ok, plus an almond croissant, choc.croissant, a loaf of a dark bread….. ok, al little more than what was on my list. But yummy.
Now I have some flylady chores to do, and then read.
I’m going to grill a pizza. I did it last year so ill need to YouTube it again as i don’t quite remember how.
I have decided to write on last email to library director clarifying the 2 things she emailed me about. I wasn’t going to but I think I need to say these 2 things. I had my daughter check my grammar(which is usually not the greatest).
So, I’ll email that off this weekend.
It’s May and everything is blooming. Plus, lots of pollen. I don’t have bad allergies but just enough with the oak and pine pollens. I take a homeopathic pill that works pretty good.
Tonight is Dex night so I’ll take a Benadryl and Ativan. Also after reading the Myeloma Beacon and the colum this month by Andrew about revlimid related diarehea and what he did to stop it by taking Colestid, I’ve decided I’m going to ask for a prescription when I see the doctor next. Even though it’s not as bad as it was, which was pretty bad for almost a year, it’s still a concern. I’ll bring in the article although he did know about the drug when I asked maybe, 5 months ago. Being on pomalyst I haven’t had quite the same issue but it’s always a concern and I’ve had two to close for comfort calls. So I’m going to do it. Sigh, another drug, but I’d rather not worry constantly where’s a bathroom!!
Last night was pizza night. I’ve been using the recipe from”Date night In”. It’s a very good recipe and does slow rise in the fridge for 24-48 hours. Its a good cook book and I’d recommend it.
Off to library stuff.
Bbq chicken / tofu for dinner.
Another Home Depot trip today….. More money…. Spring is really about spending money on plants , yard, etc. we’re trying to put a brick patio out front and need more pavers. They’re expensive, but it looks nice and clean off the dirt.
Just joking! Sometimes it feels like all I do is take pills. But, starting today I’m off rev for 2 weeks, and dex. Mostly due to I don’t see the doctor till the end of the month. Normally I’d have a week off. But then there’s acyclovir for preventing shingles, Ativan to sleep, vitamins, aspirin, and my BP med, Lisiniprol . My blood pressure has been great since starting this. But then my bottom number started getting a little low. So, I asked my PCD,to drop the HCTZ I was on. So I’ll see if there’s a change in a week and if it goes back up.
Today I’m at the library, then I’m going to come home pick some lettuce for a salad, plant some things, and then make a pesto pizza for dinner. I’m still trying to make the worlds best pizza but alas it’s not happening. But I got the crust right by using the no knead dough. It makes the crust flavorful but I just can’t get the right bottom ( browned ) and top melty. I want to buy that pizza maker called La pizzeria.
it heats up to 600-700 degrees , but then it’s just another kitchen tool I don’t have room for. But if it works it would be so worth it. Anyone have one? Or… I do have a cheap pizza stone but it still doesn’t seem to do the trick.
